CHINA-IRELAND BIOMEDICAL WORKSHOP
Introduction
The purpose of the Biomedical workshop, co-hosted by Irish Universities (National University of Ireland Maynooth, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University and Royal College of Surgeons Ireland) and Peking University is to bring together scientists from Ireland and China to discuss their latest findings on the various aspects of Biomedical Research. The specific scientific topics will include: Immunity and Viral Evasion, Protein Folding, Neuroscience and Translational Diabetes. Sessions will include cutting edge basic science and clinical science presentations both in plenary symposia and poster/workshop sessions. The workshop is supported by the Irish Government and Science Foundation Ireland and aims to enhance and develop existing strategic cooperation between Ireland and China, following signing of memorandum of understanding on Scientific and Innovation Cooperation in 2012 and to develop a greater cultural understanding between the research communities of the two countries towards future research cooperation.
On day one, the scientific session will convene in the afternoon. On day two, scientific sessions will be held in the morning and afternoon and will include lectures by internationally renowned invited speakers, as well as poster presentations. The workshop will have focused participation and a scientific and social program that will maximise scientific interchange. In addition to senior scientists, broad attendance by graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, primarily based in Beijing, is encouraged. This blend of attendees will help assure an exciting workshop and foster future collaborations between Chinese and Irish researchers.
